Noks Nauta

Noks Nauta (b 1947) is a medical doctor, specializing in occupational health and a psychologist of work and organisation in The Netherlands.

From 2000, when she became a member of Mensa, she became professionally interested in gifted adults, especially in relation to their work. At that time there was hardly any knowledge about this group. She started to collect and disseminate knowledge on gifted adults, she gave workshops and wrote articles for the gifted and for professionals. She also built a network of professionals. With Sieuwke Ronner she published a book for gifted adults at work which is translated into English: ‘Gifted Workers, hitting the target’. As a co-author with Janneke Breedijk they published a book on gifted teenagers (in Dutch).

Some of the themes she gives attention to are: work stress, collaboration and conflicts, making choices, gifted at the doctor, gifted elderly. Giftedness in her opinion is a positive set of characteristics, but some gifted people need help from professionals who know about giftedness. Noks want to stimulate that gifted people use their talents in an optimal way and become happy persons.

More and better knowledge on giftedness in adults is important for the gifted themselves and also for professionals (for instance doctors and psychologists).

Noks Nauta is a board member of the Gifted Adults Foundation in the Netherlands which she co-founded in 2010. This foundation wants to improve the living climate of gifted adults by collecting, documenting and distributing the knowledge on gifted adults. The website has an International page to spread the knowledge more globally.
