Troy Howarth

Troy Howarth (born 1977) was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and became enamored with the horror genre at a very young age. In his teens, Troy began dabbling with writing his first reviews and articles. He was first published in Fangoria magazine in the letter section while still in high school, and began work on his first book, The Haunted World of Mario Bava, while still in college. The book was first published by FAB Press in England in 2002 to very good reviews, netting some prizes and eventually selling out and going out of print. Troy revisited the book in a newly revised and expanded edition which was published by Midnight Marquee Press in 2014. The publication of the revised and expanded edition of The Haunted World of Mario Bava initiated the relationship between Troy and Midnight Marquee Press and their collaborations will continue well beyond 2015 with such upcoming books as So Deadly, So Perverse: 50 Years of Italian Thriller Films (a two volume study of the giallo), The Tome of Terror series (a decade by decade, multi-volume encyclopedia of the horror film, written in collaboration with Chris Workman), Splintered Visions: Lucio Fulci and His Films (a study of the Italian writer-director and his work, written with the special collaboration of Mike Baronas) and more. In addition to these book projects, Troy's writing can be seen in such magazines as Monster!, Weng's Chop and We Belong Dead on a semi-regular basis.
