Ed Downes

Ed Downes writes the kind of stories that keep you up past midnight—the suspenseful, the unsettling, and the utterly unputdownable. With a style that blends psychological tension, unexpected twists, and a dash of dread, Ed creates characters who are often one wrong turn from disaster—and readers who can’t look away.

His short fiction, including Qalupalik, Regrets, and Dr. Bonz, has been praised for its emotional grit and eerie imagination. Frozen Echoes marks his debut novel, and if you hear a faint whisper behind you while reading it… well, that’s probably normal.

Ed holds a Master of Fine Arts in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University, a degree that taught him how to turn nightmares into narrative gold. By day, he's a publishing industry marketing strategist; by night, he's either plotting his next thriller or wondering if the shadows in the hallway just moved.

Originally from Boston, Ed now lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he enjoys hiking, fitness, reading, and writing—preferably all at once, when possible. He shares his adventures (literary and otherwise) with his wife Jeanie. You will most likely find him reading or writing thriller fiction or doing fun stuff with his wife Jeanie and two daughters Melissa and Jessica.
