Tariq Jamil has been a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University (Oman) since year 2000. Previously he has worked as lecturer at the University of Tasmania, Australia (1999-2000) and at the University of New South Wales, Australia (1997-1998). He obtained his B.Sc. (Honors) degree in electrical engineering from the NWFP University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar (Pakistan) in 1989, and M.S./Ph.D. degrees in computer engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology (USA) in 1992 and 1996 respectively. Author of three books, co-author of another book, holder of Australian Innovation Patent No. 2010100706 on Complex Binary Associative Dataflow Processor, Dr. Jamil has written over 50 scientific papers in international journals and proceedings of international conferences. He has delivered presentations in USA, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Finland, Serbia, Greece, Pakistan, and Oman. He has received several honors, awards, and recognition, including a certificate of appreciation awarded by H.E. The Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (Oman) in 2012, distinguished speaker of the IEEE Computer Society (2005-2007), IEEE Computer Society/Upsilon Pi Epsilon Award for Academic Excellence (1996), two gold medals, Presidential Cash Award, Best Graduate of the University, Best Student, and Best Speaker of Bazm-e-Adab (Urdu Literary and Debating Society). In acknowledgment of Dr. Jamil's contributions to the field of electrical and computer engineering, his biography has been published in Marquis' Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Dictionary of International Biography, and Outstanding People of the 20th Century.
