DENISE FLECK is The Pet Safety Crusader: an award-winning author and animal care instructor who developed the curriculum for her Pet First-Aid & CPCR Classes after training with a dozen national organizations, practicing, attending seminars and practicing some more. She has personally taught 31,000 students and millions more through her appearances on Animal Planet's "Groomer Has It" and "Pit Boss," A&E's "Kirstie Alley's Big Life," CBS-TV's "The Doctors," CNN Headline News, PBS-TV's "Lassie's Pet Vet" plus 50+ segments on the KTLA Morning News in Los Angeles.

Denise was named "Most Inspiring Story in Atlanta" and well as "Woman of Influence" by Pet Age Magazine! She has twice been a finalist as Pet Industry's Woman of the Year, speaks at many pet conferences including Pet Sitters International, has received 2 MUSE MEDALLIONS and several AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE from the Cat Writers of America as well as 3 MAXWELL MEDALLIONS from the Dog Writers Association of America. She also received the AMY SHOJAI MENTOR AWARD and the PET SAFETY TRAVEL AWARD sponsored by Sleepypod in 2018. In 2018, she was also nominated for 6 Dog Writers Awards to be awarded February 2019!

She was named Volunteer of the Year by the Burbank, CA Police Department for drafting that city's Animal Emergency Plan, and developed the material for a 20-week course in Animal Care through the Burbank Unified School District for high school juniors & seniors at the Burbank Animal Shelter in Southern California. "As the proud instructor, I hope one of my students will cure a debilitating canine disease or end animal homelessness, but if each student adopts a shelter pet (particularly a Senior), shares with friends the need for spay/neuter or never harms or judges a dog by his breed alone, I'll still wag my tail," she smiles. In addition to writing, Fleck now spends most of her time training the next generation of animal care instructors.

Her more than a dozen books include "The Pet Safety Crusader's My Pet & Me Guide to Disaster PAWparedness," "Don't Judge a Book by its Cover" which was voted "Children's Book of the Year" in 2014 by the Dog Writers Association of America and its sequel, "Start Off on the Right Paw," with a 2nd sequel coming Fall 2019. Her all-encompassing "Pet Safety Bible" takes the reader through birth, adoption, safety & care throughout the years and senior pet care.
