Alyssa Huckleberry

Alyssa Huckleberry is an award-winning author and teacher residing in San Diego. Her debut novel Rescuing Racei was published when she was a senior in high school. Rescuing Racei went on to win the Theodor S. Geisel Award for best young adult novel in 2005. The Rescuing Racei series is of the fantasy genre; Dark Matter is the first book in a science fiction series that imagines a future earth of limited resources and mandated space exploration.

In addition to writing and teaching, Alyssa works as a writing coach and curriculum writer. She is passionate about travel: her most recent trips include climbing to Everest Base Camp in Nepal, camping through the Amazon, and trekking through the Sacred Valley to reach Machu Picchu. She is active in her faith and enjoys distance running.
