Chung Kim is a most respected speaker and best-selling writer in Korea on the topic of how to soar in business and career, and now wants to begin his journey to sharing his ideas to the world audience. His research has been dedicated to the issue of why some start-up make a great success while many others fail, highlighting how the successful ones transform their humble origins and even crises into great opportunities and explosive success. One of his books, 'Marketing for the Future: The five-step model of making a miracle in business and career,' was the number 1 bestseller in Korea.
His recent focus has been on the cases of Asian businesses how they create and control their own futures to achieve great success like a miracle. To bring young minds to case study and writing, he founded an international academic association, Academy of Asian Business (AAB), which is growing into a leading global community of academics and practitioners. With AAB, he also started the World Asian Business Case Competition (WACC) where college students across the globe are invited each year to compete for the awards of the world top 10 winners by writing a case study on the story of a very successful Asian business. The Top 10 best case studies have been edited to publish as How Asian Brands Soar series at Amazon.
He has also participated in business education and consulting to help Korean companies such as Samsung, LG, SKT, to name a few, prepare their wings to achieve great global success against strong global competitors even in crises.
He is a Professor of Marketing at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), Seoul, Korea. He has been awarded the best teaching awards many times including the top teacher of the year award at Sungkyunkwan University. His lectures focus on how to create and manage businesses that touch the hearts of people rather than businesses that are preoccupied with making sales or profits.
Chung Kim is also one of very productive researchers having published more than 100 papers including top international business journals and conference proceedings. He received many Best Paper Awards and Best Presentation Awards as well. He has also been serving various academic associations; among others, he is the founder and President of Academy of Asian Business (AAB), was the president of Service Marketing Association and a Vice-president of the Korean Society of Consumer Studies.
He received his BA and MBA from Sungkyunkwan University and his Ph.D. in Marketing from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Before he joined SKKU, he had taught and been tenured at John Molson School of Business, Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. He was also a visiting scholar at the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California.
