​My newest book, A Beautiful Shame: One Teams Fight for Survival in a New Era of College Sports came out with Bloomsbury in July 2025.

​I am a Professor in the Honors College at the University of New Mexico. I earned my PhD at Georgetown University.

I teach classes like "The Legacy of Failure in America" and "US History through Sports." My grandma once asked me if these are "real" classes. Yes, yes they are.

My family and I live in beautiful Corrales, New Mexico. No, we never met Walter White.
