Pam Baddeley

Pam Baddeley first began writing in childhood, producing small ‘books’ on a succession of manual typewriters, and filling exercise books with untidy handwriting. It wasn’t until the advanced age of fourteen that she began her first real novel, ‘Rian’, a fantasy epic which has seen many rewrites and which eventually became ‘The Reluctant Hero’. The book has changed beyond all recognition from that early effort, although the main characters and situation were there from the start.

After joining the world of work, she took a detour into fanzine writing for various cult TV programmes, including Star Trek and Doctor Who. This led to a commissioned piece in a commercially published Doctor Who anthology. Eventually she returned to her own original material, and has completed two more adult novels, a novel for older children, Mageborn, and a Young Adult/Crossover novel, History’s End, plus short stories, some of which have seen publication. She is currently working on another fantasy novel for adults, and has many more projects in the pipeline.
