Jonathan Edward Wilson

Dr. Jonathan E. Wilson is a missionary pastor in Japan who has spent decades preparing churches to respond to communities in crisis. He led Christian relief after Japan's 2011 earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster; trained networks in the Philippines following the largest typhoon ever to make landfall; and has since mobilized responses in eleven nations, including Ukraine and Poland after the Russian invasion. His work centers on children who have experienced trauma from disaster and war. The Quiet: Poems of Endurance (Wipf & Stock) was written during the year trauma came home — his son's brain tumor, two surgeries, his father's death — and stands as witness to what it means to hold on when holding on is all that remains. He lives in Tokyo with his wife, Rie.
