I began creating stories early in my life, playing with my sister (Regina McBride, also a writer) in our big back yard in Santa Fe. We made up names and invented plots, and though we now laugh about some of our crazy stories, neither of us ever lost the desire to create characters and discover the worlds they lived in.

I put writing on the back burner for years as I raised my children and taught writing classes and moved A LOT following my husband's career moves. All good fodder, it turns out, as all the experiences and places and people along the way enriched my thinking. From New Mexico to California to Arizona to Iowa and even to Peru, I've seen so much, struggled at times, and have come out of it all ready to put long-simmering ideas into readable stories.

I know you are a reader, since you're shopping books here, and I appreciate that. It's still one of the most luxurious experiences I feel a person can give him/herself.
