Janet Martinez

Janet Martinez was born in Indiana and raised in Illinois. She retired from teaching in Memphis, TN and recently returned to Illinois to be closer to family. She currently lives in East Alton with three dogs and one cat. The dogs and the cat have graciously consented to be featured in her books occasionally. While she was teaching, her students enjoyed being characters in her books, especially when they were the "bad guy" and only if she promised not to kill them off. She was happy to oblige.

In 2015, Janet won an award from Writers Digest for her short story "Amy's Shoes". It will be featured in an upcoming short story collection. Her novel, The Last Cowboy, was a finalist in the Wishing Well Awards in the UK.

Janet enjoys reading, walking her dogs, crocheting, and, of course, writing.
