Oreste M. G. Debernardi

Oreste M. G. Debernardi is widely acknowledged as one of the pioneers of relational art in Italy.

As a writer, he belongs to the self-narrative paradigm and is highly regarded for his unique style.

With a background in various fields, including original research, education, and civil rights activism, Debernardi has authored several books that document the outcomes of his relational works and offer insights into the dynamics that unfold when we are emotionally involved or influenced by our unconscious mind.

His social and artistic projects delve into the issue of emotional learning, and his experiences in this area have further enriched his contributions to the field.

The division of the works into collections suggests the thematic areas covered by the author's life journey. It is based on both a content-based and chronological criterion, and follows the same division as when the works were initially presented online.

The Analytical collection contains texts with a philosophical approach that address the themes of the author's research.

The Passionate collection gathers texts inspired by interpersonal relationships, in which the self-narrative style alternates between introspections and observations that recalibrate the relational, and sometimes existential, approach of the protagonists.

The Ethical collection presents texts relating to particularly intense experiences of responsibility.

The division into analytical, passionate, and ethical texts is not clear-cut, but rather derived from their structural differences. In terms of content, all texts intertwine emotions and analysis to varying degrees. Even the analytical texts touch on passions, just as the passionate texts offer analyses of feelings, and the ethical ones are an interweaving of the first two categories.

Another variable used as a criterion for the division is the thematic prevalence: analytical introspection and theoretical development in the first; passionate narrative inspired by the self-narrative paradigm in the second; and reflection on the implications of commitments to family members in the third.

All texts attempt to create interpretative models necessary to understand the experiences that generated them. Reflection extends towards the unthinkable through the practice of the metaphorical and metalanguage dimension, and a style that is sometimes close to meditative lyricism.

The Relational Art section documents relational works, with the photographic collection serving as its appendix.

The Playful collection presents texts stemming from some of the relational works.

The Educational collection presents texts documenting projects devised and directed by the author, as well as experimentation with an original method of transmitting knowledge.
