Bula Barua is an award-winning, internationally acclaimed fine artist and a published author and poet. She was raised in the USA by immigrant parents from Assam, India.
As an author, "Sand Nigga" is Bula's first published work. The book is a deeply emotional, personal, beautiful and vivid account of poetry, unsent letters, confessions and short stories. Bula's debut with "Sand Nigga" was deeply accepted and celebrated by individuals of all races, creeds, religions and walks of life. In Bula's words, "I wrote Sand Nigga to address the hidden barriers we put between ourselves and others, based on insignificances such as the color of our skin. We are so much more than our bodies. We are limitless spiritual beings with the ability to create absolutely anything. I truly believe that, and this is my message behind my book."
In the Fine Arts, Bula primarily works with acrylics and oils on canvas, paper, and aluminum. Her works are included in many private and public collections around the world. Bula has won several global and national awards for her ability to capture and communicate emotion and aesthetics through her beautiful artworks. Bula has had the honor of exhibiting in Los Angeles, New York, Taiwan, Siberia, Assam, Miami, and more. She was an Ambassador for Taiwan’s “Say No to Drugs” program, and spends much of her time creating art for underprivileged youth and "The Way to Happiness."
