Gary Thomas O'Callaghan was born in Chicago, Illinois, and attended Mary Jane Kennedy Elementary School, Proviso West High School, and graduated with a degree in political science from Elmhurst College. After racking up thirty-five years in the marketing of industrial chemicals, the author told his boss to go get ripped, and off he went to pursue the finer things in life: travel, tennis, golf, fishing, reading, and last but not least writing.
Why writing? Because everyone has a story to tell, and if you don't write it down for posterity, it will simply disappear when you do. The author was struck by a quote from a writer that he came across during his studies: "We tell ourselves stories in order to live." That right there confirmed his convictions about telling his tales: These stories are a vital part of your life and need to be recorded. And then he figured, if these stories are funny, somebody might actually get a periodic chuckle...and what could be more important than making someone laugh? So off he went making a paper trail of his humorous, and often idiotic adventures. Hopefully, some of these stories will achieve their purpose and possibly inspire others to pursue their dreams. This author's goal is to make you laugh. May you pursue your dreams, no matter what they are, and don't forget: Write them down.
Gary Thomas O'Callaghan has published five books: Bustin' Chops, Sales Tales, The Non-Don, G.O. Fishin', and the just released Bustin' Chops (Too).
