Benjamin Townsend

Ben Townsend was born and reared in Evansville, Indiana, to parents Ben and Reva Townsend. Ben has been a long-time Independent Baptist pastor, and had pastored in Mesick, Michigan for 24 years. A musician, trained at the IU School of Music, Ben has recorded four CDs of his music.

Ben has also desired to write books for Christians and Pastors that deal with local church polity and policies. Now republishing his first book, a Novel, The Powers That Be in an updated format, he is hoping for a new generation of readers who will enjoy his humorous and serious sides. His books mainly deal with Church/State conflicts and law. As Director of the Ecclesiastical Law Center for over 20 years, Ben desires for all churches and Christians to be under the Lordship of Jesus Christ in all things.

Ben is now the elected County Commissioner for District 3 in Wexford County, Michigan. His diversity of roles at this junction of his life has helped him to open his writing. His newest book is an historic account of the township in which he lives, Springville Township, Wexford County, Michigan. The title is “T23N, R12W: The Story of Springville Township.”

The book he is now writing, "The Very Last Mite," is the book he has always wanted to write, about the attempt to pass a Constitutional Amendment to do away with the right to bear arms in this country and the people's reaction to such a law.
