Robert Priewasser

Robert Priewasser was born 1967 in Vienna, Austria, where he lives until today. After completing his Master in Global History & Global Studies at the University of Vienna in 2012 he graduated a Bachelor in 2017 in Oriental Studies, focusing on Arabic and Islamic Science, a Master in German as a Foreign and Second Language in 2020. After his Bachelor in Egyptology in 2023 he attends a master in Egyptology likewise at the University of Vienna.

His main interests focus on ancient up to modern history of Egypt as well as medieval and early modern history of Western Europe including its global implications.

Besides his published master thesis "Between Authoritarian Rule and Shura - Participatory Elements and Traditions in the Egyptian State since the 19th Century" (2013) and the book "Tiran Island and Straits of Tiran - Unexplained Sovereignty over an Island in the Context of the Arab-Israeli Conflict" (2013), his essay "The Missing Revolution: El Sisi's Presidency in the Light of the Army's Historical Role in Egypt" was released in "Stichproben. Wiener Zeitschrift für kritische Afrikastudien" No. 27/2014, Vol. 14, 55-78.
