Michael Judge

Accomplished author, photographer, artist, promoter and gallery owner Michael Judge has led a whirlwind life creating visually striking images seen throughout the world. His work can be found in major international collections and museums, among them the National Museum of Architecture in Poland and London Contemporary Art in England. The list of collectors includes President George H. W. Bush, Senator Edward Kennedy and Senator Robert Dole. A native of Washington, D.C., he has lived in Spain and Poland, as well as in California, Montana and Florida. He now makes his home with his wife in the White Mountains in Arizona.

Captured Horizons, Michael Judge’s memoir secured an impressive 2nd place in the 09 Independent Publisher Book Awards - the world’s largest competition for independently published titles. In Captured Horizons, Judge writes about his many loves and adventures with verve and energy, much as he has lived his life. Whether he is describing his often stormy relationships with women, reminiscing about working with mobsters in Miami, or exposing the process by which new genius artists are created, he tells it all with refreshing honesty. What emerges is the journey of a complex man and artist who is never afraid of reinventing himself. The book features a generous selection from Judge's extensive portfolio, including the spiritually inspired Light Paintings and Visions of America - the result of crisscrossing the United States over four decades. The images show a range of diversity which not only capture, but expand our horizons.

The Last Road Trip is Judge's newly released novel. When professional photographer Brett Tempest takes one last motorcycle trip across the United States to shoot the final pictures for a book of Americana he meets with unexpected surprises. Not only does he encounter a gallery of remarkable, sexy women - from seductive waitresses to a sultry curiosity shop owner, to wayward teenage hookers, and more. There are mysterious events and experiences that blindside him and force him to see the world in a new light. Tempest is a memorable anti-hero for the new millennium - coarse, bawdy, carnal, romantic, caring, creative, and generous. His mystical transcontinental journey, with echoes of Jack Kerouac's On The Road, explores realms both sacred and profane and ultimately leads to redemption and the promise of a new future for all of humanity.

Michael Judge’s Portfolio of Excellence includes:

Nutron, a haunting series of black and white photographs dyed in sepia tones depicting a city in conflict with technology and the absence of the human element.

Poland is the photographic essence of a people struggling to heal the past and define their future – an exhibit used by the AFL-CIO to raise funds for Solidarity during the Polish revolution.

The Light Paintings possess an ethereal, lyrical quality creating a symphonic visual often lacking in abstract form.

Out of the Ashes evolved from the great Malibu fires of 1993 chronicling rebirth out of destruction. These Cibachromes metamorphosed into silkscreen over giclee and are embedded on aluminum.

Tips is a poignant, beautiful and at times wrenching documentary film portraying the lives of
American waitresses.

Visions of America is Judge’s latest touring Museum exhibition premiering on the Silver Spirit, Silversea. It features 49 subjective color PenturaVisions, and 6 intensely revealing black and white portraits. Capturing a rare moment in time it gives you the opportunity to eavesdrop on a visually captivating journey spanning four decades across the back roads of America. It is compelling and refreshingly innovative in its artistic execution while provocatively tells the ‘true story of a disappearing America. "Both photographer and painter, Judge fuses his technical knowledge to create images that convey his response to the forgotten artifacts and people scattered across the entire United States. One feels privileged to be an armchair traveller through his Another America.”
Karen Sinsheimer, Head Curator SBMA, CA.

The Paintings, abstract canvases expressionist in form are the harvest of a lifetime’s experience and invite us into the logic of the art compelling us to 'think' into 'seeing.'

Premiering in 2016:

The Immortals in the 21st Century is a dynamic and innovative group of paintings that will enlighten man to the visions of the ancient Gods. In this 21 piece exhibition Judge utilizes a revolutionary technique in painting he coins ‘Reflectivism,’ achieved by laying down a unique web of dimensional color which allows the light to catch the reflective facets on the paintings surface. This avant-garde technique subtly changes the image as you walk by it or towards it deepening your personal relationship with each character. By painting his way into the minds of the Greek Immortals the final forms will most definitely astonish, enlighten and unite the viewer.
