Joshua Ehrlich

Joshua Ehrlich grew up in Newton, MA. His mother was a published poet (and two of his sisters are authors). He graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in English. He received his doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Michigan and did his psychoanalytic training at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute. At present, he has a full-time clinical practice in Ann Arbor, is on the faculty of the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute, and teaches and supervises psychiatry residents at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Ehrlich has a longstanding interest in divorce, and has worked with hundreds of individuals and families to help them manage the painful fallout when families come apart. He also has a longstanding interest in loss, mourning, and barriers to mourning. Having grown up in a household of writers, he maintains a strong interest in writing, especially in finding ways to illuminate complex concepts in jargon-free language. This book, his first, combines these interests.
