Judith Lauter

Judith Lauter (JudithLauter.com) was born in Austin TX. When she was nine, her family moved to Michigan, where later she met her husband the poet Ken Lauter, in a U of Michigan poetry-writing seminar taught by Donald Hall (US Poet Laureate 2006-7). After completing her BA in English Literature from the UM Honors college, she earned 3 MA degrees (creative writing - U of Arizona; library/information science - U of Denver; and linguistics - Washington U in St. Louis), and a PhD in communication sciences (Washington U in St. Louis). She and her husband have lived in Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. She taught and directed human neuroscience laboratories (cf. ZebraBrain.net) at Wash U, U of Arizona, U of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches TX before retiring in 2012 to return to her work in photography and poetry. Her poems, published in several journals and a series of books, have won a number of prizes, and selections of her photos are available at FineArtAmerica.com.
