David specializes in addictions and addictive processes, from attempting to control them to staying stopped. From the practical challenges of maintaining ‘recovery’, to the deeper questions of life purpose, meaning and motivation.
"As society shows us, the confusion and emotions that surround the subject make it very hard to know how and why and when to ask for help.
In my work, addictive processes are an issue of connection- connection to oneself and connection to the world. So its a threefold challenge:
physical health,
emotional health and
spiritual health.
The last one, spiritual health is about connection, ‘spirit’, about how we breathe in this world-comfortably or not!"
When previous attempts with other people, systems or institutions have not borne the fruit a person hoped for, or they are still at the mercy of cravings and other relapse provoking circumstances and moods, such as shame, anger and grief, then David may be able to provide some peace of mind. He has also worked effectively with those already in ‘recovery’ who seek greater self awareness, a deeper path to living and a sense of freedom.
David writes from that place of knowing being a Counselor, Therapist, Teacher, Facilitator and survivor of addictions over the past 26 years, and does so without judgment of any person’s place in the process, or if they are in relationship to an addict. He writes carefully, and thoughtfully from the heart, ensuring his books are relevant to everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, location, gender, or addiction.
