Kendia Laramore

Bahamian author Kendia Laramore, is known for her fore word about controversial and taboo topics. At the age of thirteen, Kendia was introduced to the liberating world of writing by her cousin the late Sylvia Laramore-Crawford, thus birthing her love for the literary arts. She used writing as a tool to express her innermost feelings, where orally she was unable to convey her thoughts.

After graduating from high school, she enrolled herself in a private workshop and was tutored by the legendary Mr. Obadiah Michael Smith, shortly thereafter she was inspired to write her very first novel, which remains untitled and unpublished to date.

Kendia is the author of three published works, “The Darkest Truth”, “Red’s Diary: Secrets of the other woman” and her most recent “From My Heart To Yours: Can Anybody Feel Me?” She was also a contributing freelance writer for the online newspaper caribbeannewsnow.com where she wrote the articles “Chosen” and the controversial article “Your sexuality is your choice NOT your DNA.”

Ms. Laramore considers herself to be a liberalist and rejects the labels, stereotypes and social perspectives and ideologies that are often attached to women with an “open mind.” She does not want to be categorized either as a feminist because she believes that equality is no respecter of gender. Ms Laramore is quoted as saying “ I don’t believe that anyone should be “categorized as anything, we are all just bodies of whatever or mind embodies us to reflect. I am my own standard, therefore I can’t fit into anyone else’s.
