Eliakim Willner

Eliakim ("Eli") Willner wears two hats. He is a scholar specializing in Jewish philosophy and thought and he is an accomplished technologist specializing in publishing and medical supply technology. He has published works in both worlds.

Eli Willner studied for many years at Yeshiva Rabbi Chaim Berlin, one of the foremost Rabbinical academies in the USA and continues advanced studies there to this day. He was one of the last US students of the Dean of that Yeshiva, the great Sage Rabbi Yitzchok Hutner, before Rabbi Hutner emigrated to Israel. Rabbi Hutner recognized and encouraged his writing talents and in fact requested that he translate portions of Rabbi Hutner's seminal philosophical work, Pachad Yitzchok, into English, which he did. The first volume of that work has was recently published.

His work, "Nesivos Olam - Nesiv HaTorah: An Appreciation of Torah Study", a translation and commentary on a work of philosophy and mysticism by the revered Maharal of Prague, was published by ArtScroll/Mesorah, the premier Judaica publisher. He is currently working on the next volume in that series, "Nesivos Olam - Nesiv HaAvodah: The Philosophy and Practice of Prayer", which is scheduled for publication in 2019. He has also written many articles on Jewish subjects which have been published in the Jewish Observer, Yated Neeman, Hamodia and other publications and gives a weekly adult-education class on the philosophy of the Maharal.

Eli Willner is also a seasoned manager and technologist with deep experience in all aspects of technology. He served with distinction in senior management positions at several well-known firms, was Chief Technologist of the Barnes & Noble Digital Content Division and is past Chairman of the XML Forum of New York. He spearheaded the launch of an innovative educational and social networking platform, having architected some of its key features.

His book, "Advanced UCSD Pascal Programming Techniques", was published by Prentice-Hall. He has also written and published numerous articles in a variety of professional publications.

Eli Willner is accomplished public speaker; in addition he taught for many years on the university, junior college and high school levels.
