John Speer spent 35 years as a senior executive in some of America’s most highly respected Fortune 100 corporations. His experience with building products and building organizations was rooted in his real passion for building people. His principal focus was a belief in each individual’s ability to contribute. His goal was to help individuals find their uniqueness, the special skills that would enable them to excel. He discovered that, those who excelled not only believed in their work but most importantly they believed in themselves. During his career and later in leadership programs at the University of Minnesota Mr. Speer has utilized his experience to guide individuals through a process for increasing self-belief and developing self-guidance. Mr. Speer captured this process in a book "Think New Thoughts" published in 2009, and has also created other resources to help students find the answers to life’s questions on their own.
