Tom F. Driver

I am a lecturer, preacher, author, peace activist, and theologian. I am the Paul J. Tillich Professor of Theology and Culture Emeritus at Union Theological Seminary in New York. I am the photographer-director of two documentary films about violence in Colombia, written and narrated in collaboration with my wife, the historian Anne Barstow. I have been active on behalf of peace, justice, and human rights in Colombia and Haiti. My cross-disciiplinary and ecumenical career unites three principal areas of interest: 1) modern theolgical thought in relation to culture; 2) ritual, religion, and theater as modes of performance; and 3) the rejection of war and the advocacy of nonviolent resistance to evil..
