J. L. Guin

After a hitch in the U.S. Navy - I did various jobs in the lumber industry, mostly sales. Near the end of my working career I spent 6 years as a Propane distributor manager. I have always liked reading history and fictional wild tales about the old west My first western short story "Caught Red Handed" appeared in Western Digest in 1995.

I live in a rural mountainous area in Northern California and spend time roaming the hills.

In 1997 - I wrote "Matsutaki Mushroom," a guidebook and account about the industrial aspects of the favored mushroom.

I then turned to writing western fiction short stories and later novels.

I am a member of the Western Fictioneers.

"Drover's Vendetta" was my first novel back in 2011. Since then I have been fortunate enough to have several more novels published by Sundown Press, the latest, Reluctant Partners, was released August 2020.
