Caleb W. Lack, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist and Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology at the University of Central Oklahoma.
An internationally recognized specialist in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Dr. Lack is the best selling author or editor of eight books and more than 65 scientific publications relating to critical thinking, psychopathology and mental disorders, the history of psychology, and more. In addition, Dr. Lack regularly presents nationwide and internationally at conferences on a variety of topics, including evidence-based practice in psychology, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, PTSD, innovative teaching and training methods, and more. He is on the editorial board of several scientific journals and a reviewer for both journals and granting agencies.
Dr. Lack’s clinical interest in evidence-based practice developed while in graduate school for Clinical Psychology at Oklahoma State University and during his predoctoral internship in Clinical Child/Pediatric Psychology at the University of Florida. He specializes in the treatment of children and adults with anxiety, trauma, and obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, with extensive experience with persons with chronic tics and Tourette’s Syndrome. He is regularly interviewed by local, national, and international media outlets and consults with companies around the globe on issues related to mental health.
In addition to courses on his clinical and research specialties in psychopathology and evidence-based psychological practice, Dr. Lack also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on critical thinking, science, and pseudoscience. He wrote the "Great Plains Skeptic" column on the Skeptic Ink Network and "Separating Truths and Myths" for the Center for Inquiry, as well as presenting about skepticism and critical thinking frequently across the globe.
A native Oklahoman, Dr. Lack grew up in the rural community of Mountain View, where his parents still reside and farm and ranch on land that has been owned by the family for over a century. He currently resides in Edmond, Oklahoma with his family and various livestock on a wonderful little property called Freethought Farm.
