John A. Cowgill

Born and raised in Winchester, Virginia, John A. Cowgill lives in the northern Shenandoah Valley. He received his undergraduate degree in Social Studies education from Shepherd University (Shepherdstown, West Virginia). He also holds a master’s degree in education from James Madison University (Harrisonburg, Virginia) and a master’s degree in liberal studies with a concentration in history from Fort Hays State University (Hays, Kansas). John taught at Clarke County High School in Berryville, Virginia, and served as an adjunct professor of history at Lord Fairfax (now Laurel Ridge) Community College in Middletown, Virginia. Now retired, John enjoys spending time in his home-based workshop, building furniture, clocks, and acoustic guitars. He and his wife, Marilyn, live in Berryville with their 3 cats.
