At 28, like so many other young women, Amy Lewis packed up a Uhaul and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting dreams. But unlike so many others, Amy had spent the past year grieving the loss of her husband; she had become a widow at age 27. As she grieved, roaming the streets of her hometown of New Orleans, she began having supernatural experiences that she could not explain, but surrendered to.
In her teens and early 20's Amy struggled with depression and self-cutting; doctors diagnosed her with border presonality disorder and hospitalized her. Medication and therapy helped but never healed her; her real healing came through a stormy relationship with her late husband, Truth, whose unexpected death led to her own spiritual awakening.
Amy began writing and performing pieces where she channeled her intense emotions into art. She wrote and starred in the one-woman show Waking the Witch, and has acted in numerous indie films. Amy also performs poetry in numerous spoken word and Live Lit events in the Los Angeles area.
Amy holds a Masters degree in Spiritual Psychology and is mother to a 6 year old daugther. When she's not writing or performing, she works at a Tech company. The award-winning memoir, What Freedom Smells Like, tells the story of her spiritual awakening. It is her first book.
