Kathi Haacke Morehead

Kathi Haacke Morehead is a writer, creator, and truth-teller whose work blends history, personal narrative, and a fearless search for dignity in difficult places. From her earliest novels (White Night and its sequel Eternal Dawn) to her piercing non-fiction explorations (Heart Bleed and The Best of the Cheap Seats), Kathi has built a body of work that challenges, comforts, and provokes in equal measure.

Her current projects carry that same fire forward: Raising Little K: A Return to Myself, a memoir of healing and imagination co-written with her inner child; Lionhearts Rising, a movement dedicated to creative resilience in an age of collapse; and her most ambitious undertaking yet — a deeply researched narrative of the Dyatlov Pass mystery, written with the rigor of history and the pulse of a thriller.

Kathi writes with the conviction that stories are more than entertainment — they are lifelines, mirrors, and battle cries. Her voice has been called “fierce, compassionate, and unflinchingly human,” and she embraces that calling fully.

She lives in the Appalachian foothills with her cat, Kitty, and her beloved lamb plush, Geordie, who both play starring roles in the creative Fort she has built. She is mother to Ian and Betsy, grandmother to Emma, and guardian of a legacy she insists be marked by courage, humor, and love.
