Daniel Halsey was born in 1959 in Stillwater, Minnesota. Mr. Halsey was a freelance food photographer for 25 years and developed an interest in permaculture and sustainable food production in 2001. Now a certified permaculture designer and teacher for multiple academic institutions and organizations. Daniel has a Bachelor of Science degree in Temperate Climate Polyculture Design and a Masters of Professional Studies in Horticulture from the University of Minnesota. He uses his graphic design skills to develop master plans for clients and educational materials for the Southwoods workshops. Dan travels inter-nationally to design, instruct, and consult for planning of intentional communities, agro-ecosystems, and broad-acre restoration.
Since 2012 Daniel has been the director of the Permaculture Research Institute/USA and works to develop certified and accredited permaculture education sites. He frequently lectures at organic and sustainable farming conferences.
