I've always felt lucky to have grown up in Healdsburg, California, in the heart of Sonoma County wine country, where in my youth I spent many summer days getting into mischief along the Russian River. I also lived and worked in Sonoma County for most my life. And as you might expect, having spent so many years in a wine region, I do appreciate a glass of good wine now and then.
I'm an avid reader and enjoy a broad range of fiction and non-fiction work. Though, I have a weakness for speculative fiction that favors dystopian and post-apocalyptic themes. My background and career in a previous life was in the field of Information Technology, where early on I started using a clunky, slow service that connected computers belonging to a small number of universities and corporations. It was then called ARPANET. Eventually it grew and caught on, and ultimately became known as the Internet, or the World Wide Web. I have used, followed and adopted evolving technology ever since. This may be why it played such a significant role in my debut novel.
I now reside in the desert southwest with my lovely wife, Gail, where we enjoy the warm, sunny days and hot summer nights of the northern Sonora Desert, and the beautiful region surrounding Tucson, Arizona.
