About the Author - Gregory M Powell

Gregory M Powell is the author, editor, and publisher of several "Splendid" eBooks and proprietor of splendidebooks.com. He is privileged to have attended Mrs. Jelly's sixth-grade English class, Mifflin Elementary School, Mansfield, Ohio. She was instrumental and inspirational in shaping Greg's literary future.

For many years, Greg has had a number of creative books percolating within his soul. His creative literary expertise was seldom called upon as he continued his more than thirty-year career within the telecommunications industry. Gregory was given many opportunities to write engineering procedures, technical manuals, desk descriptions, job descriptions, business proposals, and the like. His technical writing skills continued to flourish as he became Engineering Manager, in charge of an entire group of technical writers that produced equipment instruction manuals, owners' guides, internal processes and procedures, as well as other engineering-type documentation.

Creative writing opportunities were limited to college writing assignments, research papers, thesis writing, and occasionally . . . a lengthy, yet heartfelt, love letter.

While attending Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio, Greg's Creative Writing professor, commented that [Greg has a] "writing style with a certain Hemingway flair that is creative, concise, conversational, and well-organized, while conveying an extremely pleasing literary content." - Dr. [name to follow] - (Oct-2001).

Even one of Greg's [love letters] received the following comment:

"I love reading the words you write to me! I could read this stuff all day long! It reminds me of Hemingway!!" - Kimberly B. - (July-2001)

Another college professor was pleasantly surprised that Greg was capable of inspiring his readers with well-written, invigorating content, even when addressing something as seemingly boring as telecommunications acronyms! Dr. [name to follow] informed Mr. Powell that he had convinced his reluctant teenage daughter to read his work. While initially she commented, "I don't want to read those boring homework assignments!" To which Dr. [name to follow] insisted, "Oh, no! This one's different. You'll like this one!" Well, after reading, the daughter exclaimed, "That was awesome, dad! Thanks for making me read it!"

And now, with his telecommunications career behind him, Greg is focused on bringing to light the creative writings pent up within him for so many years.

I am certain that you will enjoy his fact-filled and fun-filled manuscripts as much as I do. Interesting and informative, a pure joy to read. I'm always eager to enjoy Greg's literary prose and continually looking forward to his next accomplishment.
