I'm a writer in residence at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg in North Germany, where I'm finding out more about various scientific research projects and being inspired by them to write. I'm permanently based in Edinburgh where I've worked in the Scottish Government, and where I also did a PhD in astronomy.
I love writing fiction (and sometimes non-fiction) about science! My stories have been broadcast on Radio 4 and published in various anthologies and magazines. I'm the author of 'The Falling Sky', a novel about an astronomer who finds evidence that may contradict the Big Bang theory, and who loses her mind. 'The Falling Sky' was runner-up in the Dundee International Book Prize. My latest book, a collection of short stories called 'The Need for Better Regulation of Outer Space' is long-listed for the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award.
