Stefani Ruper

Stefani Ruper, PhD, is an author and philosopher whose work explores faith, reason, intellectual humility, and the pursuit of truth.

Raised without religion and an outspoken atheist from a young age, Stefani went on to study theology, philosophy, and the relationship between religion and science, earning a master's degree from Boston University and a doctorate from the University of Oxford. Her work asks what it means to pursue truth honestly when certainty is impossible—and what might happen when we become willing to reconsider beliefs we once thought were settled.

She is the author of The Certainty Cure: Heal Polarization and Grow in an Age of Addiction to Being Right, as well as several earlier books, and is the ghostwriter of several bestselling titles on health and human flourishing. She is currently writing Letters to a Young Atheist, an exploration of Christianity, doubt, evidence, trust, and her own unexpected journey from atheism toward faith.

Stefani has facilitated intellectual dialogue and spoken to audiences around the world, including at Harvard, Yale, and Oxford, and is the co-host of a podcast with more than 10 million downloads. She lives in Durham, North Carolina.
