Gordon Bailey

Gordon Bailey (1946 – ) Montréal, Québec

Gordon Bailey is retired after teaching Sociology for 18 years at Capilano University in North Vancouver, BC. Prior to that, he taught at various institutions (Grade 2 to Graduate School) in Canada, Britain, Malaysia, and the United States. Before moving to Capilano University to teach Sociology, he taught courses in ‘Education and Social thought’ for nine years at the University of Victoria. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon (1975). He has published two academic books, one on Sociological Theory and one on Ideology, as well as a number of articles and reviews.

Among other issues, he has worked at and written about community, transportation and the environment. He has two sons and two grandchildren. He lives with his wife Sue, on Pender Island in the Gulf Islands of BC.
