John B. Bartholomew

John B. Bartholomew was born in 1942 in Spokane, Washington. His family moved to Chicago when he was six months old, and he lived in the Chicago area until 1955 when his family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Writing was in John's blood. His father was a World War II correspondent and radio and television commentator who also wrote a weekly column for the local newspaper. John followed suit in writing his first book, "The Proven Guide to Inflation Survival and Future Prosperity" published in 1980. He also wrote a bi-weekly column on financial planning for the "Denver Downtowner" newspaper, and produced syndicated articles on financial planning for a number of radio stations throughout the country.

When John retired in 1997, he had the time to pursue his lifelong interest in philosophy and theology. After almost twenty years of study and writing, he published the first of what turned out to be ten books on apologetics and comparative religion in 2014. He called the series "The Cabana Chronicles" because the books were based on discussion sessions he had with fellow retirees under a beach cabana on South Padre Island, Texas each winter.

Each of the ten books in the series presents a record in dialogue format of discussions among group participants. Such discussions are the most effective way to teach ideas and concepts because several sides of an issue are presented in opposition to one another. Canadian clinic pyschologist, Dr. Jordan Peterson, once said that "It's really hard to think. You have to be trained like mad to think. You have to be able to divide yourself internally into a couple of different people, and then you have to let those people have a war in your head. And that means you have to develop characters who have opinions in great detail, opinions that might be contrary to your own, and then you have to withstand the tension of letting them have it out." This phenomenon is what happens in every book in "The Cabana Chronicles" series.

John now lives in the Vail Valley of Colorado and is working on developing a Christian education curriculum based on his books.
