Tanfer Emin Tunc is a Professor in the Department of American Culture and Literature at Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey, and a leading expert in American Studies. She holds a BA, MA and PhD in United States history from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and specializes in American social history, cultural studies, women’s and gender studies, and the medical humanities. The recipient of grants and fellowships from the National Science Foundation, the Woodrow Wilson Foundation of Princeton University, Rockefeller University, Duke University, the University of Michigan, Smith College, the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the Hastings Center for Bioethics and Public Policy, and the Salzburg Global Fellowship, Prof. Tunc has presented her research at conferences all over the world.
