Had I not been ineffectually noodling around on one of my four guitars as pictured, I'd have certainly written more. Whether I'd have had more published is open to debate.
I was born in London and worked for a number of tyrants, including David English and Robert Maxwell, on the Daily Mail and Daily Mirror respectively. Since the fun side of national newspapers was largely killed off by the Internet, more recently I've been involved with teaching, originally with Truro College and now with both Cornwall College and the WEA.
Although I didn't leave full-time journalism until the sub-prime and banking collapse of 2008, I have lived for over 25 years in Cornwall and work for my wife's company on marketing and as what is laughingly called a Webmaster.
At one time I fronted a jazz programme on local radio and also enjoy TV having been involved with documentaries for ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, CBS and Sky. Check out my website: douglasbence.org.co.uk
