Manos Markakis

The three of us met at a tiny café by the sea and agreed to one thing....."let's travel". We all came from different backgrounds but we had something important in common: our endless love for children! Moreover, we had the same, profound need to express ourselves in a creative way.

We all live in Greece. Maria is an English teacher and works with children of all ages in her native town, Ioannina, a beautiful place in the west. Giorgos, a native Athenian, is a new artist with natural talent. He has excellent studies on sketching and his subversive style takes by surprise, captures and carries away the reader, young or not. And I, Manos, come from Crete, the popular heroic island. I am a father of two boys that I admire and let myself be lured to the joy of childhood and to the inexhaustible excitement of discovering new things.

We tried to find a way to express ourselves that would be understood by children of young ages that we love so much. The alphabet was our incentive to cogitate on various topics. We wanted the children to share our love for nature, life, people, culture, science. This work is only the beginning of different attempts that will follow in both poetry and prose with the contribution of the high aesthetic of our dear friend, Giorgos Bougas.
