Michael Slowik

Michael Slowik is Assistant Professor of Television, Film, and New Media at San Diego State University. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and a master’s and doctorate degree in film studies from the University of Iowa. He is the author of After the Silents: Hollywood Film Music in the Early Sound Era, 1926-1934 (Columbia University Press, 2014) and has published articles in American Music; Cinema Journal; The Journal of American Culture; The Journal of Popular Film and Television; Music, Sound, and the Moving Image; Nineteenth-Century Theatre and Film; and Quarterly Review of Film and Video.
