Suncera Johnson

Suncera is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of the Breast Cancer Equity Initiative (BCEI), a mission-driven organization focused on closing critical gaps in access, awareness, and patient-centered care.

Her advocacy is rooted in lived experience. After navigating her own breast cancer diagnosis and the challenges of seeking high-quality care across state lines, she became a vocal advocate for patients who feel unheard, underserved, or dismissed within the healthcare system.

Suncera’s work has been recognized and amplified through collaborations and features with leading institutions and organizations, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), and Bloomingdale’s. Through these platforms, she continues to elevate patient voices and push for more equitable, responsive care models.

Her most recent book "How to Advocate for Yourself When You’re Not Being Heard: A Guide to Speaking Up in Medical Settings When You Feel Dismissed" is a practical and empowering resource designed to help patients advocate for themselves, ask better questions, and navigate complex treatment decisions with confidence.

Her work is also shaped by profound personal loss. The insight and perspective gained from her life experiences have deepened her commitment to resilience, purpose-driven leadership, and systemic change in cancer care.
