A. M. Jaramillo

Ana Jaramillo is an acoustical consultant with Olson Sound Design LLC. Prior to this, she worked full time as a university professor and researcher at Corporación Colegiatura Colombiana and Instituto Tecnológico Metropolitano in Medellín, Colombia, and during that time she also worked as an acoustical consultant for projects ranging from auditoriums and classrooms to night life venues.

Ana majored in Architecture at the National University of Colombia and continued to specialize in Architectural Acoustics at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where she received an MS degree. She also holds a doctoral degree in Architecture + Design Research from Virginia Tech where she investigated the relationship between mechanical noise and student achievement and was invited to join the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi.

She has authored the books “Acústica: La Ciencia del Sonido” and “PocketArchitecture: Architectural Acoustics”. In 2012 she received the Robert Bradford Newman Medal for contributions to architectural acoustics and in 2013 she received the Outstanding Doctoral Student recognition from the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech.

After completing her doctoral studies she began work for AFMG Services North America LLC, providing assistance with customer support for the EASE/AURA/EARS design software and the EASERA/SysTune measurement software. She also provides advanced training worldwide for manufacturers, acoustical consultants, and audio contractors for both EASE and EASERA.

Dr. Jaramillo is a member of AES, ASA, SBSE, BTES, Syn-Aud-Con, and has been a contributing and invited presenter at national and international conferences such as ICA, ASA, AES, Internoise, AES, ARCC and SBSE
