Sharon Burch

Sharanagati's passionate commitment to Life got a rocket boost after a loss that shook her to her roots and threatened her livelihood, her health and her family. Even though she was a holistic health and wellness specialist, Sharanagati realized that ordinary self-care wasn't going to heal her life. So she honored her soul's calling and connected deeply with timeless Peace that passes understanding.

Sharanagati (Sharon Burch MSN, APRN, CNS, APHN-BC) is a holistic public health nurse who's worked in hospitals, nursing homes, home care, hospice and the community-at-large since 1974. In each of these places she's been painfully aware of the ways people's souls were being ignored by mainstream health care systems.

Sharanagati feels particularly concerned with how our healthcare systems do not adequately

~ Honor people's holistic needs: body, mind and spirit

~ Inform ill people about their complete health situations

~ Support people in making the most of their end-of-life choices

In 2012 Sharanagati founded Awakening to Grace, a not-for-profit organization that reflects her combined experience in holistic nursing, health sciences and the shamanic arts. The 'Peaceful Dying Joyful Living' book series and online support community are her vehicles for contributing to Peace on Earth for All.

Sharanagati has authored two textbooks and more than 40 home study continuing education (CE) courses for holistic nurses, licensed massage therapists and bodyworkers, and the public, including:

~ Consciousness: How Does It Relate to Health? (1994)

~ Recognizing Health and Illness: Pathology for Massage Therapists and Bodyworkers (1996)

~ Natural Approaches to Menopause (1998)

~ Skilled Touch for Seriously Ill and Dying Persons (2001) co-authored with Irene Smith

~ Stress and the BodyMind (2006)

~ Helping Clients Manage Chronic Pain (2008)

~ How to Facilitate Peace for Family and Friends Who Are Dying (2014)

~ How to Reduce Pain and Fatigue with Holistic Tools (2014)

~ Holistic Self-Care for the Caregiver (2014)

Sharanagati lives and works where she'd most like to be when she dies: in the forest and on a sailboat in the middle of a peaceful clean lake.
