Keith St Clair Butler

Keith Butler is an award-winning Anglo-Indian writer based in New Zealand, whose work has appeared through Penguin, Meanjin, The Age (Melbourne), Anglo-Ink Books, and the Scopus-listed International Journal of Anglo-Indian Studies. Across books, articles, and short stories, he has spent his career bringing Anglo-Indian voices to the forefront — illuminating universal themes of colonialisation, marginalisation, displacement, and diaspora.

Keith was confronted by a profound and unsettling realisation: that generations of Anglo-Indians in India have grown up without access to their own history at school. He asked a question few had dared to voice — has a form of cultural erasure been visited upon his community? Rather than look away, he answered that question with action.

Drawing on his experience as both writer and educator, and enlisting the celebrated artistry of Harry MacLure, Keith has created The History of Anglo-Indians: A Graphic Novel — a bold, visually stunning, and deeply accessible work of scholarship designed to reclaim a forgotten past.

This ground breaking book was made possible by the passionate support of Anglo-Indians and allies across the globe. It is more than a book. It is a long-overdue act of recovery, recognition, and cultural renewal — and we are pleased to house it on this global platform.
