I have wanted to write stories since I attended a rural one-room schoolhouse. Later I decided to write a novel and discarded it in chapter two. When our children and grandchildren were small, I often began their bedtime stories with the statement, “What if …?” We usually created stories from those experiences. Many of these situations provided the premise for children's booklets listed at https://meadowlanestories.homestead.com.
As a young woman in the 50s, I yearned to serve in the church, which wasn't received with much enthusiasm. I began to study the lives of women who had entered the working world and excelled in education, training, acceptance and rejection. This awareness led me to write three YA novels about Agnes Macphail, the first woman voted into the House of Commons in Canada (www.donnamann.org). I have written two memoirs, Take Time to Make Memories and WinterGrief (https://grieveandgrow.blog.)
A Rare Find (a midwife story) was another exciting project, and I recently released Emma's Call: A Woman of Faith. I co-authored with Carolyn R. Wilker to write Discover Your Story - Family History or Memoir, which I use in group work to encourage seniors to write their stories.
Doug and I have travelled extensively and continue to be avid campers. We have five children (one deceased) and live with our cat, Maudie, in a quiet village in Southern Ontario.
