Graham Field has been compulsively crossing continents, mistreating motorcycles and baffling border guards long before anyone trusted him with paperwork. An improvised ride to Mongolia spiralled into nine travel books, mostly because he writes everything down before he can talk himself out of it—proof that forty years of compulsive diary-keeping can accidentally become a career. Now exiled in Bulgaria, where locals politely pretend to understand his linguistic guesswork, he can’t stop telling tales born of misinterpreted mishaps, occasional inspiration and irresistible calls from the road.
