Buster Blank is one of my pen names, the one I use when writing for middle grade students. (By day I'm author/speaker/broadcaster Dom Testa.)
I use quirky tales about interesting kids to spread what most parents and teachers refer to as "positive messages." Hey, these aren't squeaky-clean stories - there's some downright weird stuff that happens.
But in all my years of working with students on developing their own creative spark, I've found these quick reads to be among my most popular books. One was banned from a couple of schools because it has the word "Demon" in the title. These schools clearly didn't actually READ the book, which has a remarkably positive message. Sigh.
Dive in, have some fun, get a little freaked, but come out the other side with a smile (or sometimes a tear).
