Robert Cox is a writer in Tasmania, Australia. He is the author of eight books including three collections of short stories and four books about Tasmanian history. The latest is Broken Spear: The Untold Story of Black Tom Birch, the Man Who Sparked Australia's Bloodiest War (Wakefield Press, 2021).
His other historical works are Steps to the Scaffold: The Untold Story of Tasmania's Black Bushrangers (Cornhill Publishing); Baptised in Blood: The Shocking Secret History of Sorell (Wellington Bridge Press); and A Compulsion to Kill: The Surprising Story of Australia's Earliest Serial Killers (Glass House Books). His short-story collections – Alibis, Lies, Goodbyes; The Clarity of Tears; and Agony and Variations – are all published by Ginninderra Press, as is the anthology he co-edited with Robyn Mathison, Behind the Masks: Gwen Harwood Remembered by Her Friends.
Although he now writes books full-time, he previously worked as a journalist and editor.
