Al Brunsting, Ph.D.-physics, holds 15 issued USA patents and more than 50 foreign issues patents. He has devoted his career to advancing the state of the art in optical systems, including fiber optic telecommunication, fiber optic connectors, fiber optic sources, and practical fiber optic and systems simulations. One of his patented optical designs was integrated into a home blood glucose monitor used by diabetics and has sold over 1.5 million instruments. As a result of this and other outstanding accomplishments, he was the winner of #1 worldwide award, conferred by Bayer Corporation for distinguished technical achievement.
Dr. Brunsting's interest in science and public education led him to found a program where Indiana's public school students were mentored by local technical professionals. For several years he worked closely with the school’s administration and local specialists to develop hands-on experiences for the students. As a result of this public achievement, he received the governor's Community Service Award. Building on his broad background in the field of optical physics and engineering, he also possesses a lifelong interest in examining the impact that the discoveries of modern science have had on changing religious beliefs.
Al grew-up in a Christian household. In adolescence he started to question the basics of the faith. This was the same time he started to develop a strong interest in science. This book is the result of a life-long search and questioning journey to combine faith in God and science.
